WSBT) Some local
women are asking Indiana Governor Joe Kernan to walk a day in their shoes. They
say stricter state rules for In-Home licensed child care providers are
impossible to follow and limit the care they can provide.
Providers and parents say the new regulations violate privacy and jeopardize
their children's safety. Providers names address and phone numbers were listed
on government websites without them knowing.
"It's put my day care children in danger," said Ann Stefaniak. "My own
grandchildren can't play in the backyard because I don't know who's going to be
watching."
The group plans to ship about 1500 shoes packages Saturday morning from the
Mishawaka Post office.
They hope the special delivery will get the governor to listen to their
concerns.
